Meet Larry Person of True Life Media in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Person.

Larry, before we jump into specific questions about the company, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story starts at church. As we (the men’s choir) were sitting in the choir room between services, I was showing my friend, the church photographer, some photos I took with my phone. He told me I had the right eye for photography and asked if I ever thought of doing it. I told him I loved to take pictures but never thought of taking up photography. Well, I got my first camera, and in addition to my initial mentor, I was introduced to Aric Thompson with Dream Multimedia Group. When I started shadowing him and learning is when I really started to grow. From there, I was ready to fly solo and create my own relationships with people and allowed my charisma, character, and talent to speak for themselves. Aric told me he loved the way I take each photoshoot and challenge myself to be better than the last. Fast forward six years later to 2020, and I’ve not only done celebrity photos, numerous events but I’ve also begun to film movies. And I must say I LOVE IT! Incorporating video and film into my company has been the best thing! I thank God for birthing this passion into my life, and I plan to honor God in what I do.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a rocky road. The biggest struggles have been with the growth of self and skills. Studio lighting and retouching were the hardest to master for me and keeping the confidence up to utilize them when it was time. Thankfully I have friends in my corner who give me a swift kick in the butt once I begin to doubt myself. Now that its past me, the struggle began to be getting clients, paying clients. But all in all, with the challenges and victories, it got me to where I am today.

True Life Media is a media company specializing in Photography, Video, and Film. What I am most proud of as a company is the ability to get referrals. Literally, be sitting at home and get either a text or inbox with someone saying they were referred to me. That, to me, speaks of the level of satisfaction my clients have had with my work. What sets me apart from others is my character. When you hire me for an event or a photo shoot, you will leave with an experience and a smile!

Whew, where can I start!…. First off, I thank God Almighty for his Grace, which has been sufficient for all. My mentors Carlton Burton, Aric Thompson (my mentor), Brandi Price (my muse for years). These people have been very influential in my success now. I have so much love and respect for them. I’ve recently gained a partnership with Chef Melody Conner with her brunch series at The Foodgasm Experience, and I thank her for all of her support since day one.
