Today we’d like to introduce you to Pastor Jonathan Baker.
Pastor, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story?
I was originally born and raised in South Carolina. I moved to Connecticut and later New York before I returned to the South and set up shop in Atlanta. I was called by God at a young age but like many leaders, I ran. I got involved in gang life at 16 years old. I was in legal trouble by the age of 17. I was blessed to receive federal probation instead of the prison sentence but life was a bit rough for me after that. I’ve always been musically talented so that’s all I wanted to pursue. I began playing drums at the age of 4, keys at the age of 9, and I recorded my first song around 10,11 (live recording). It was all Christian music at this point. However, in my pursuits of music, I began to fall off from my personal life with God as I got older.
I had pretty decent success. At one point, I had about 60,000 monthly subscribers via Spotify. I was close to breaking into the industry so many times, but something always went “wrong”. Finally, in the summer of 2018, I asked God WHY: why was my life going this way, why could I never catch a break, etc. I was angry. God responded with a question as well: “when are you going to do what I called you to do?” I didn’t understand at first, so I was like, “what?” He repeated Himself. After a tad longer wrestling, I finally surrendered and the result is what you see today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Easy?? **Laughs** Definitely not. I knew that before I started, but some things you don’t realize until you get involved in them. Christians have a bad rep nowadays and pastors have an even WORSE rep. It’s understandable why, but sometimes I wish people would be as open minded with the things of God as they are with everything else. Some of the struggles included:
-Me covering a bunch of Sunday’s in the first year of ministry
-Being called a cult leader by people’s family members after me helping people become better people
-Being slandered by other pastors who never even PHYSICALLY met me but were intimidated by me etc.
Anything worth having is worth fighting for and serving God is no different.
We’d love to hear more about LOEGOA Life Church.
Pastor Jonathan Baker is a prophetic voice in this end time. He focuses on helping make The Bible applicable to the listener. Many modern day leaders shy away from speaking truth out of fear of being shunned or not becoming bigger in their ministries. Pastor Jonathan does not care about man’s approval. He continues to speak the unadulterated, unfiltered Word of God. He began ministry in an apartment doing Thursday night Bible study and God birthed the church from it. His spiritual father is Apostle Satish Raiborde. Apostle Satish has planted churches worldwide and has many sons and daughters.
Pastor Baker and his wife, Prophetess Andrea, are the lead pastors over LOEGOA Life Church. They have two beautiful children. The church is based out of Atlanta, GA. They are focused on winning souls for The Kingdom and equipping leaders for the end time. One of their biggest focal points is community. They both agree that The Body of Christ is indeed ONE Body, many members. In order for one to grow effectively in God, they must have a strong community. “Relationship with your brothers and sisters is just as important as your relationship with God. We believe in that at LOEGOA Life Church”- Pastor JB
What were you like growing up?
I was an interesting kid. I loved God ever since I could remember. I also loved people. That quickly turned into me becoming a people pleaser, unfortunately. I always wanted people to like me. Being a smart kid was the absolute WORST growing up. I was always getting picked on and laughed at by kids who low key envied me but would never admit that to me. I skipped two grades and graduated HS 2 years early. I finished school with a 3.7 GPA at the age of 15, so you can probably imagine how hard it was for me growing up.
I was always interested in sports and books. I read A LOT. I played baseball growing up and I also played instruments at church. My parents raised me in a Christian home so I didn’t get to do as much as my peers, but looking back on it now, I’m grateful. My upbringing played a major part in the long run.
