Meet Ms. Melody Monroe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ms. Melody Monroe.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ms. Melody. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Thanks for having me! I was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. I discovered my musical talents at the age of nine when I wrote my first song and have been writing ever since. Over the course of my childhood, my talents were nurtured in church and school where I participated in multiple music programs.

It wasn’t until college that I really began to explore my passion for music composition and production as we know it today. I studied Business and Music in college in an attempt to marry my natural music abilities with my entrepreneurial spirit. I released several mixtapes during that time and my first official single called “Ladies Room”.

After graduating from college, I decided I wanted to make Atlanta my home. It took years to actually become a resident here, but eventually I made it happen. I released my first EP called “Motivation” in 2018 which was inspired by my journey of getting to Atlanta. Since that time, I’ve been growing my brand as an indie musician and businesswoman.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey has been a series of highs and lows that have worked together to shape my character and transform me into who I need to be to fulfill my purpose. I’ve lost a lot of people on this journey including my father who passed away when I was one years old. Even though he passed away early in my life, he gave me my name – Melody, which I believe was a prophecy of who I would become.

As a creative, I haven’t always had the resources I needed to bring my visions to life, but that forced even more creativity out of me and strengthened my resourcefulness.

I’ve had to make many sacrifices to get to where I am today including time, money, a social life, restful nights, and certain relationships. As an entrepreneur, everyone will not understand your vision and they are not meant to. There are times when you have to walk alone, but those moments of solitude are what force you to believe in yourself and center your focus.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an indie hip-hop soul artist, songwriter, and producer. My mission as an artist is to promote a message of truth, light, and love.

I am also an entrepreneur. I am a REALTOR® who is passionate about educating others on how to build wealth through real estate and other financial instruments.

In general, I am all about uplifting the community, positivity, consciousness, goodness, and fun.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe true success is living your purpose. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with money, status, or titles. To quote the great Dr. Maya Angelou “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”
