Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Spear.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Atlanta from Los Angeles in 2012. I had grown-up visiting Atlanta having several family members here. It wasn’t until I moved here on a whim that I really saw Atlanta for what it was. I was blown away by the amount of talent, creativity, amazing food + people that made up the city. I wanted to keep exploring, but couldn’t find an outlet that would guide me. This is when I decided to create my own. I started the Cool Atlanta Instagram account shortly after moving here. The purpose was never to be a personal account, but simply a guide to the city.
Has it been a smooth road?
The purpose of Cool Atlanta has never been for profit or personal business, so I’ve never felt the pressure to make it be a certain thing. I’ve kept it as authentic as possible, therefore haven’t felt the obstacles that other businesses may feel to grow. If there’s been a challenge, it would probably be during this time + how COVID-19 is affecting Atlanta businesses. Having a network of primarily Atlanta followers, I haven’t quite figured out how best to utilize this outlet to promote Atlanta businesses in the most effective way. It’s a heavy + uncertain time. The city feels sad + most days I wish I could wrap my arms around the entire place.

Cool Atlanta is a guide to some of Atlanta’s coolest spots + things. I’m proud to showcase one of the greatest cities.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Best: The people. Outdoor spaces. The food- there are some incredible talent in the local restaurant scene. Least: The pollen comes Spring + an overcrowded Atlanta Beltline.
