Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamila McQueen.
Jamila, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out moving to Atlanta to Morris Brown College at the age of 17. I had never lived in Atlanta before, so it was kind of nerve-racking. I became Miss Morris Brown College my freshman year and from there my career took off. I became a public speaker at events such as MLK Commemoration Service, MLK Anniversary, and became the spokesperson for the school, and many other events. I have created my own online homework business to assist those in college with getting their work done as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was definitely a struggle, so to being by myself and away from home. It was an interesting thing because I was able to adjust fast. However, it did get lonely and I was busier than I expected. It was a struggle having to be the face of the school at 17 while trying to enjoy the little things in life, however, it assisted in me becoming the woman I am today.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am most known for public speaking and my homework business. I speak for interviews, community projects, and King Center, and many more that come my way. My homework business has taken off this year, and it is I set reasonable prices for students to pay to get assistance with their work.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my business and industry slowing down as I continue graduate school. However, I know that any moment someone can reach out to me to either speak or for homework assistance.
