Meet Kimberly Jolasun of Villie in Doraville and Norcross

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Jolasun.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kimberly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My husband’s large family hadn’t had a baby girl born in almost 20 years. Instead of a gender reveal party, I had friends and family guess the baby’s gender with $20 bets. A few days later, I had raised close to $1k. This simple idea grew into an online game (genderrevealgame.com), where expecting parents can raise funds and connect with friends and family around the world to support the coming of a little one. This has grown even further to Villie! We build games that enable parents to get support from their friends, family, and village online in a fun way. Having already served over 30,000 users with the Gender Reveal Game, our powerful team of four are working on creating games for everything baby announcements to baby’s 1st birthday.

Has it been a smooth road?
Building a tech company with no technical background has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done. The secret is building a solid team. The team has been key to our success.

Tell us more about the business.
Studies have shown that pregnancy and up to two years after a baby is born has made more people unhappy than divorce and unemployment. In such a stressful time, friends and family are living further and further apart. So how can we raise a child if it takes a village, but the modern village live in different time-zones? Villie, the parent company of GenderRevealGame.com is here to bring the village together virtually.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
There has certainly been a lot of good luck and being in the right place at the right time. An example of this is meeting my Chief Technology Officer at a spontaneous happy hour. But this is half luck. The other half is showing up — which is my secret. I keep showing up, putting in the work, and luck seems to find me.
