Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Legree.
Jasmine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Tattedbyyatti, also known as Yatti Moneda, too many. I am From Milford, Delaware, where we call it the “small wonder.” I started tattooing about six years ago. I was an athlete student most of my years until I was injured from a car accident in. Arts seemed calming to my body and I then found the love for permanent artwork I started tattooing about six years ago. I was a college student who needed work after being injured from an accident. Arts seemed calming to my body and I then found the love for permanent artwork.
My favorite piece of work is my portrait recently done this year, 2019. It is my favorite piece because five years ago, I set a goal for my career and this year, I made a bigger goal and that was to complete a portrait. I do not have a favorite artist, I have met a lot of dope artist out there and many of them have different skills. I am a fan of the art that Done by STEVE BUTCHER. His work is amazing, just seeing somebody’s skin come to life!
The toughest tattoo I did was the large leg piece on a client that took 12 hrs total. It was maybe my first large piece, so I was a little drained. It took a long time. So I felt I need to train myself to working long hours. I prefer to work in a calm and peaceful but a little upbeat in environment. I do not like the silence I like for good tunes or frequency’s to create the moods. For me would be someone neck, I just think it’s a Lil weird sitting and stretching. It’s not difficult for me to focus. I keep my sessions quite comfortable.
I would like to travel, more-so to share God’s love with my work. I see myself as a healer in many ways, yet I once was broken. I use tattooing to be my therapy. So for myself as an artist, I take being able to reach different types of people who all have a story or event of trauma, and even affirmations they like to remind themselves of from time to time. That’s where I step in! I like to call my self an ink therapist. I just like to see people feel good and about themselves.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were many struggles in my work. I have never had or taken the easy route.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I specialize in black and grey artwork, sometimes cater to color art. I take on any project, whether big or small, because it is part of growing process. I am very much different from other artists because I am self-taught and I treat my business like an empire. I want my company to continue to excel; therefore, I put forth my best energy and effort in doing so.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Being nonjudgemental is what allows people to be their true selves with you, and as an artist, I feel that expression is everything.
