Meet Jennifer Carpenter of The Lavender Bar in Buford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Carpenter.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been a licensed Esthetician for 17 years. I started in this business back in 2002, always intrigued in skin and beauty. I myself had was diagnosed with rosacea as a late teen and was not happy nor convinced the standard protocol helped the condition, propelling me with finding ways to treat it on my own. I found that when I used certain ingredients that it was helping, so I decided I wanted to go deeper and help others.

Over the past 17 years, I have worked in many facets within the industry, from luxury destination spas, top plastic surgeons, to teaching and running an esthetics department with a technical school. All roads lead me to purchasing my own business last year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Does anyone have a smooth road? I of course, have had obstacles along my journey. I am a mother to three and that alone is challenging in its own right, always working hard sometimes holding onto more than one job to make a living. It’s tough in the industry when you first start and of course last year I started from scratch buying an existing business with zero customers, and turn that around in just year was a defiantly a challenge. Learning what works and what doesn’t work, with customers and employees.

Please tell us about The Lavender Bar.
The Lavender Bar is a holistic day spa. We offer our variety of holistic based services. Massage, Facials, and body treatments. Specializing in anti aging treatments, using plant-based skincare, holistic therapies, such as Gua Sha facials, microcurrent, and lymphatic facial massage. Our massage therapist offers relief for our clients with her tailored massages, including lymphatic, stretch, & therapeutic. I am also oncology certified, giving me the ability and knowledge to work with individuals going through chemotherapy.

I am proud that we actually make a difference in people’s lives and the community. Not just with our services but with the non- profits that we work with. Also, we won Best Of Gwinnett 2019! Setting us apart in the area is we are the only holistic based spa in the area. We concentrate on healing the skin from the inside out. Using plant-based skincare and educating our clients on ingredients that will help and heal. Our treatments are based on their individual needs.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I have a lot… one being that I am close to my Grandmother and would go to her house every Saturday and spend the night and we would watch the Golden Girls! Live… when it was actually on the air. Oh, and deep-sea fishing!
