Meet Kennyce Hart of Kenx Beauty in Conyers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennyce Hart.

Kennyce, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve have been interested in all things hair for as long as I can remember. My earliest hair memory would have to be when I was in elementary school. My mother would style my hair at the beginning of the week and allowed me to maintain the hairstyles during the week. Around middle school grades, I remember when my best friend and I would stay up all night taking turns styling each other’s hair. By high school, I was doing my hair full time and had progressed into relaxers and box colors. This was all before YouTube, so I really was self-taught. I was my first client. From cornrows and curling irons, to relaxers and up-dos, I had to be my own mannequin. 

Throughout high school and college, I gained clientele with my close friends and family but hair styling was not my career choice, more so a hobby.  My clientele grew more when I started crochet braiding. With this protective style being so trendy, I knew immediately that my hobby was about to become a business. I later enrolled in cosmetology school at Georgia Career Institute, graduated, and became a licensed Master Cosmetologist. I was official. My love for hair had grown from a hobby to my brand, and KenX Beauty (pronounced kinks beauty) was born. 

Has it been a smooth road?
When pursuing anything in life, the road is not easy, nor smooth. One of the biggest challenges for me during this process was being away from my family. When I was in cosmetology school, I worked a full-time day job and was at night school full time. It was hard not being around them and not being available to my loved ones. Fortunately, they were so supportive of me and understood that I was doing what I HAD to do. My son at the time was 7 years old and would encourage me to finish school. He reassured me that he was okay, and that further motivated me to press on. Another obstacle was choosing a path and staying focused on that path. With the beauty industry being so popular and diverse, it can be overwhelming to decide on which way to go.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the KenX Beauty story. Tell us more about the business.
KenX Beauty LLC is a hair care service business that focuses on the integrity and beauty of all hair types. While I do not have a specialty, I enjoy hair color and styling natural hair the most. I am so proud of my clientele growth and skill progression despite only offering hair services part time. KenX Beauty’s diverse clientele is what sets me apart from other stylists. I enjoy styling all hair types regardless of ethnicity, texture, or length. Much like a fingerprint, hair is unique to each individual. 

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the near future I look forward to my business growing further and creating my own hair care products. My hair care line will cater to those individuals who experience dry scalp, issues with retaining moisture, heat/chemical damage, and hair growth promotion. Like my clientele, my hair products will serve all hair types and textures. My goal is to help others maintain and embrace the beauty of their kinks (KenX) and curls.
