Meet Trailblazer Astasia Roosevelt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Astasia Roosevelt.

Astasia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been interested in arts and crafts throughout life. I’ve won a few drawing contests so I think I am pretty much legit. Beginning my nail technician journey in August of 2017, I was looking for something to capture my full attention. My older sister was the one to push me to go to school for nails and take it seriously. Honestly, at the time, I had nothing else so, why not. I attended Elaine Sterling Institute, located in Sandy Springs and graduated in January of 2018. Once I finished school, I began working in a salon lobby and grew from there. Many full sets later, and I am currently working in a salon suite located in Buford, Georgia.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Just like any journey, it will have its good and bad times. I have experienced more good because I always try to remain grateful and so on the positive side of things. The biggest struggle is remembering to listen to yourself and stay confident within yourself. I sometimes compare myself to others and have to remind myself I have my own journey and should remain focused on just that. Advice for other women starting? It’s the same. I tell my clients and friends. Nike said best, ‘Just Do It.’ Do not be afraid to take risks and do what makes you happy. Once you focus on making yourself happy, the world will follow.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a nail artist and I am sensitive about it. I specialize in hand-drawn art and colored/glitter acrylics. I am known for my loud laugh, my contagious vibe, and creativeness. I love that my brand attracts people from all walks of life. Its judgment-free, liberating, and overall magical. What sets me apart from other techs, I believe, is my originality. Taking from what my clients tell me is that my art and the time you spend with me is just different. My secret ingredient? Love.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
All the women in my life. Clients, teachers, coaches, family, sisters, random women that have told me something that has stuck with me for life have all inspired me. As women, we are so gentle but so strong. There are so many that have helped shape me into the woman I am and growing.
