Meet Jazmine Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Anderson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jazmine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The decision to become a massage therapist came from the need to change my circumstances. When I started massage school, I was a scrub tech working 12-hour shifts and on-call all the time. My twins were about to turn one and I knew that I didn’t want to miss out on so much time with them. I saw a commercial for Miller-Motte Technical College and called to tour the facility. By the end of the tour, I was enrolled to start classes the following week!

After completing school, I took a job at Massage Envy. While it taught me a lot about the business, I knew it wasn’t the perfect fit for me. After about eight months there, I was offered a job at a local day spa here in Columbus. I loved it there and thought I would never leave. In massage therapy, we have slow seasons. So in one of my slow seasons, I prayed the Prayer of Jabez. I fully expected God to enlarge my territory inside of that business. But, as usual, His plans are greater than mine. A friend of mine had opened her own business and had a studio to rent. I went back and forth about whether this was for me. But God has a way of making the path plain for me, and before I knew it, a good friend of mine and I were renting the space! I was officially my own boss, making my own decisions!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, there were the usual stressors of starting a small business: figuring out how to run it, will the clients come, will I make enough to sustain my family. Just as I was getting my footing, COVID struck. The state shut us down for almost three months. Talk about a wrench in the plan!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My whole business is about getting clients to a better state of wellness. All my massages are geared toward getting the client to their best possible self. That means using whatever technique is necessary. Some places charge by the modality, but I charge by the time. I like to say that all my massages are medleys of all my training. I am most proud of the fact that my clients see genuine results. I always pray that they leave better than they came. What sets me apart is my personality. This area is full of great massage therapists, so I make it my business to set myself apart by being an all-around therapist. My clients become family and that attention to every aspect of their lives gives them the sense that I care, which I absolutely do!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be my grandfather’s 75th birthday. I can clearly remember all my cousins and aunts, celebrating my grandpa. It was an amazing memory because I had never felt as much love as I did then. Hopefully, we can recreate that memory this year as he turns 91 in October!
