Meet Lisa Patrick of Black Butterfly Salon & Spa in Stone Mountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Patrick.

Lisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My mother went to cosmetology school when I was 8 years old. She had a mannequin head that I would always practice on until I got really good at doing hair. At 18 I rented a small studio and purchased two salon chairs. I ran a small shop out of a Brownstone in Brooklyn, NY while attending college. A few years later I expanded to a large salon on bustling Church Ave. in Brooklyn. In 1996, I moved to Atlanta for more opportunities.

I’ve owned and operated Black Butterfly Salon & Spa on the East Side of the Atlanta area for 11 years now. I service regular clients and also travel and do hair for Trade Shows and celebrities.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been progressive although moving from NY to Atlanta was an adjustment. I had to build up my clientele in a new city and state. I’ve also had struggles expanding the business but I make it a priority to re-invest in my business every year.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love Atlanta’s diversity. I would say I’m least fond of the Traffic LOL.
