Today we’d like to introduce you to Dyneasha Reed.
Dyneasha, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Atlanta seven years ago with $50, no plans and a car up for repo. I started working at hotels cleaning 18 rooms in Buckhead to traveling to East Atlanta to bartend four nights a week. Bartending got me into the nightlife. I worked as a waitress that lasted four years and attending school to be a nurse, all while saving money to start a business. I wanted to be a nurse to stabilize my life but I never really wanted to “punch the clock.” After taking a chance and using my savings, knowing I wanted to start a hair company, firstly I started trying several vendors to make sure I made the right decisions and when I found the one I selected, I knew at that point I hit a gold mine I just needed the right person to try it.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road, of course, started off smooth my friends, co-workers, and women I worked with in the past from waitressing made it easier to sell the hair. The overwhelming response and support I got from them allowed me to launch the grand opening of my store in my hometown state, Illinois. The opening was a complete success but then it started to fall right in the beginning of the pandemic and South Korea decided to shut down. I experienced a lace shortage just like plenty of other hair companies but I didn’t let that deter me from my goal and that was to be more than just popular but successful.
Royal Extensions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the owner of Royal Extensions, the CEO known as “Dee” I specialize in selling 12A grade hair extensions, wigs, clip-ins, tape-ins, and the best bundles in Georgia and Illinois. I’m mostly proud that I strived thru a pandemic and it was actually was one of the times when I had the highest sales. I sold out multiple times without there even being salons open. What sets me apart from other hair companies is that my prices are reasonable and the hair is more than amazing it’s the best!!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is the realization of our dreams, goals, and ideas. I have dreamed of this vision, I have written my plans down and executed them, and I have allowed my ideas to become my marketing strategy. I am now looking for brand ambassadors to make my business better and more broadly to a bigger audience. But the only way from here is UP!!!
