Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Parks.
Michael, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a native of Atlanta, GA “BankHead Community” and I’ve been passionate about photography ever since my young military days in the US Air Force traveling from country to country. Since 1992, I’ve traveled to over 45 countries and photographed beautiful cities and landscapes. Now after more than 20 years of traveling the world, I’ve decided to put my dream to the test and capture what I love so much… people, landscapes, and family memories.
My specialties have developed to Event, Group, Corporate, Wedding, and Glamour photography with a ATL twist. I’ve traveled to Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia doing specialized photoshoots and have some scheduled overseas photoshoots in the future.
I attended the Art Institute of Atlanta for commercial photography and have attended numerous workshops through the Professional Photographers America (PPA) & Georgia Professional Photographers America (GPPA).
DayStar Photography is a Veteran and Christian owned business specializing in 100% customer service and smiles on all my customer’s faces.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been smooth since I’ve been shooting for the last couple of years. Each photoshoot I do whether it’s on a special location, in-studio, or somewhere I’m not custom of taking pictures at, I’ve learn from each shoot.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with DayStar Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business is a registered Veteran owned business based on my Christian morals. For example, I don’t do any paid photoshoots on Sundays.
I specialize in weddings, portraits, group and event photography. I try to put a special ATL twist on all of my photos by talking and understanding what the customer’s vision is for their pictures. I’m most honored of how the DayStar name has spread over not only in Georgia but the U.S. without using any social media. All of my advertisements come via word of mouth and through customer satisfaction referrals.
One thing that sets me apart in my opinion is that I take pictures that people see in their minds but not able to photograph and bring them to life. Once they explain to me their vision, then I try my best to bring it to life. I thank GOD for giving me this gift to compose colors, expression, and creativity.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to expand the DayStar workforce by hiring a couple photography assistants and Photoshop/Lightroom experts to assist me with my heavy volume and workload.
I have a couple of huge ideas I’m working on to present to some Fortune 500 Companies that will not only boost their business products but also add to their employee’s moral and workforce imaging.
