Today we’d like to introduce you to Neelu Konkimalla.
Neelu, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Neelu Konkimalla, and I am a classical Indian dancer trained in Bharatanatyam. My Gurus are Asha Apaainc, Uma Palam Pulendran, and Radhika Shurajit. I am also trained in Kuchipudi by Charitha Ragyari. As a dancer, I give many stage performances, and it’s hard to keep up with all the performances on one device. My idea was to upload every dance performance I did on YouTube, so it became a place to quickly access my videos and show it to my friends and family members. Later, I started to get interested in other dance styles like fusion and Bollywood. I also started to choreograph to film songs that are popular in India. I enjoy the fun process of choreographing, editing, costumes, and advertising the videos. I get my motivation from my family members because they encourage me to continue my dance.
Has it been a smooth road?
I believe that if you have a passion for something, nothing should be difficult to achieve. In my journey, I was able to overcome the obstacles that I came across. Some examples include buying some equipment, spending money on costumes, and driving to locations. However, even though I encountered these ‘hardships’ I dedicate the time and money to make a perfect dance video. I want to thank my audience for constant support and love. Without them, I wouldn’t be enjoying the success now.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Here is the description of our ClassiBeatz channel: “Hey guys! Welcome to the YouTube channel, ClassiBeatz, you can find a little dose of every dance form here, ranging from classical to mass beats! Contact us for collaborations, dance events, personal training, and classes. Stay tuned for more videos!”
We are different from other YouTube dance channels because most dance channels focus on one style of dance. However, my channel(ClassiBeatz) focuses both on the classical and western forms of dance. For example, we did one video on “DJ Remix Telugu” which consist of current Tollywood trendy steps and on another video “Seetha Kalyana Vaibhogame” we showcase the classical movements describing Lord Rama. In this way, we don’t forget our roots, and we are keeping up with the trends in society.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like Alpharetta’s surroundings and weather. I enjoy going to parks such as Webb Bridge Park and Wills Park. I also enjoy going to places like Avalon because of the many shops, restaurants, and movie theaters. There are many places I still need to explore. In Atlanta, I like the Coca-Cola factory because of the different flavors we get to taste. If I get bored with my section of town, I try to visit new places. You never run out of new things to do, places to visit, or people to meet.
