Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena Renee’.
Sheena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started when I was around six years old and my mom bought me my first barbie doll. I never really played with them, I literally always styled their hair. In 2002, I graduated high school and immediately enrolled in Pivot Point International Cosmetology School. I began my career in the beauty industry in my hometown, Chicago, IL and learned my sought after healthy hair skills while working at Pure Essence Salon in Dolton, IL.
In 2005 I decided to further my education by attending Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. I promised my mother that I would complete my college education along with following my passion for hair. I was known as the on-campus beautician, I posted my cosmetology license in my dorm room for every potential client to see. I obtained my degree in Mass Communications in December 2008 and opened Sheena Renee’ Salon Suite in 2012.
To this day, I pride myself in maintaining a clientele that all began at Clark Atlanta University, one of the greatest Historically Black Colleges and Universities right here in Atlanta, GA. Today, Sheena Renee’ Salon is a well known healthy hair haven situated inside of My Salon Suites of Cumberland. We offer a private one on one healthy hair care experience that services clients all over Metro Atlanta. I specialize in growing healthy hair along with sleek shiny curls and natural hairstyles. I also provide a variety of healthy hair extension services.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wish I could say that it has been a smooth road but unfortunately, it has not. While working to build Sheena Renee’ Salon, I was also assigned one of the hardest jobs in America, MOTHERHOOD. Being an entrepreneur and raising two children 19 months apart has been the most rewarding yet trying periods of my life. I am beyond thankful to my husband for effortlessly being the greatest support throughout this journey. I could not have done it without him.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have majored in Business Management for my undergraduate degree.
