Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Nicole Swiner.
Dr. Swiner, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I attended Duke University and went to medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. I’ve lived in the Triangle (Durham, NC) since finishing residency at UNC-Chapel Hill and continues teaching as an Adjunct Associate Professor with the Family Medicine department. When I’m not treating patients at Durham Family Medicine, I’m spending time with my family, speaking nationally, freelancing for WebMD and teaching others to self-publish. I have become one of the nation’s experts on self-care, imposter syndrome, physician burnout and well-being.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not necessarily. Starting and maintaining your own businesses takes time, energy and money. And, if you still have a “regular 9 to 5,” work-life balance can be a struggle.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Swiner Publishing Company – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
With her company, Swiner Publishing Company, she helps authors become best-sellers, from start to finish. She loves taking care of the family as a whole.
Dr. Swiner is also affectionately known as the Superwoman Complex expert and has written two best-selling books on the topic. She loves taking care of the family as a whole—from the cradle to the grave. Her interests include Minority Health, Women’s Health, Self-Care and Female Entrepreneurship. She has become one of the nation’s experts on self-care, imposter syndrome, physician burnout and well-being.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m planning to take more time off from clinical work to be able to work more from home and be at home with my husband and kids. I want more of my ways of living to be remote, so I can work from anywhere and when I want.
