Meet Nikki Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Wilson.

Nikki, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Even from a young age, I have always had a love for photography. I went through who knows how many digital cameras. When my husband and I got married, he bought me my first DSLR just to play with and take pictures of the kids. Little did I know I would learn that camera inside and out and turn it into my business. I remember being so scared to put my name out because there are so many amazing and talented photographers that I look up to out there. I didn’t want them to think, “oh, here’s another momtographer that just wants to make some money fast.” I took time to do it right by learning my settings, about lighting, posing and all that good stuff. Then in the spring of 2018, I finally started taking photos of friends and family. Since then, I’ve gained many amazing clients that have become more than clients they are family and I’m contently learning new things.. Even with 2020 being such a horrible year, It surprisingly has been a very successful year. I’ve grown so much as a person and as a business. I cannot wait to see where this new year takes me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, I’ve had a smooth road. I struggle with my own personal demons with getting in my head thinking I’m not good enough or the worst one comparing my work to other photographers. It’s hard when you are a very introverted person and have a hard time putting yourself out there. I’ve worked very hard over the years to get out of that bubble and my safe space. It gotten better but It still comes up once in a while.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer located 20 minutes south of Atlanta. I specialize in families, couples, maternity and lifestyle sessions but I do it all. I love capturing people’s candid emotions with their loved ones. Photos are something that are to be kept for a lifetime to tell a story. Sunsets and beautiful locations are my most favorite things about a good photoshoot. I love making my clients feel like family. I pride myself and my business in the best quality affordable services.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my husband supporting and always cheering me on with whatever decision I decide to make in my business. My friends and family also play a huge part in helping me get my name out there and helping me follow my dream. This year I did my first photographer’s mentorship weekend with Alyssa Hollie. I will forever be thankful for her and all her support and love. I had started following her this past year. I love everything about her work and how passionate she is about her Photography. I am forever grateful for every single person in my life that pushes me and encourages me daily.
