Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Martin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I originally started my journey of financial literacy as young as 17 years old; being in high school and watching my mother struggle with her finances, I just wanted to do something to help her not only with her finance but her credit as well. I was in a business class where we briefly touched on personal finance. I asked my professor if he had any additional information that he could share with me, and he told me that he could teach me about credit and personal finance, so I stayed after school for a few months to learn how to increase credit scores and manage checkbook all while in high school and only being 17.
From there, I continue to assist friends, family, and church members with their credit, and it became a passion of mine. It was something I enjoy doing, and it didn’t feel like work. I felt like I was doing something right. I was helping people and I was making a difference all at the same time. After working in corporate America for about five years, I decided to take a leap of faith and become an entrepreneur. I started my credit repair business in 2015. Since starting my business in 2015, I have serviced over 7000 customers but realized that my reach could be further if I were able to provide not just the service but the knowledge as well, so in 2017 I started Credit with Kiara, which is my coaching blog that is centered around financial literacy. As I continue to grow, I realized that I was helping a lot of people restore their credit and improve their finances I was quickly left with the same question what next? After we have the client get a car get a house, I still felt like there was more so I decided to add business credit to my service list and went on to add funding as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I always say nothing worth having is easy, so no, it hasn’t been the easiest road. Entrepreneurship is hard work, especially when it’s service-based. I’m very results-driven and a perfectionist, so at the beginning of my business, I found it hard to delegate and hire a team, so for the first three years, I mostly did the work myself with a little help from family and friends. Being new to Entrepreneurship and young, there was a lot of things that I didn’t know. Also, a big struggle of mine was trying to find mentors and coaches that could help me. I spent a lot of money on coaches and training and just knowledge in general to be the best. Another struggle that I faced was I didn’t have systems in place to assist me with the clientele that I had. I didn’t have enough staff. I didn’t have plans; I just was doing everything myself. It was very stressful so I sat down and wrote down my processes and created workflows! I created automation for my business so I could work smarter and that’s when I really was able to grow into a seven-figure business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I created Credit With Kiara, a do-it-yourself coaching blog to better assist women with repairing and rebuilding their credit and taking charge of their finances at their own pace. Credit With Kiara provides a plethora of guides, ebooks, templates, and products that women from all backgrounds can use to kickstart their financial journey. What sets me apart and makes credit with Kiara different is I wanted to create affordable financial products with American American faces and budgets. I never liked the reason someone hadn’t started working on their finances to be because they couldn’t afford to, so I create products as low as $2.99 so that no matter what someone was going through in their life, they could afford to learn about credit because the thing is you can’t afford to not know about Credit. I didn’t create my products for the impact that I knew it would have on the community of people that I serve.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I definitely see us becoming a cashless society and really using digital currency going forward so it’s really important to learn about Credit, business credit and investing opportunities.
