Community Highlights: Meet Coach Brian Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coach Brian Alexander.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Brian Alexander, and I’m from Greensboro, GA. I’m a small-town guy with humble beginnings. I have been involved in sports throughout my life, and I was a three-sport athlete (football, basketball, and track) at Greene County High School. I was blessed with a football scholarship to Tusculum University. I amassed All-American football honors as a Linebacker. I hold the career tackles leader record at Tusculum, and I graduated with a B.A. in Sports Science. After graduation, I became an Admission Counselor for Tusculum University. I traveled the southeast, educating students on how to get into college. I realized how important this work is and how many students don’t know how to further their education and do it for free.

After two years of working for Tusculum University, I moved back to my hometown and served my community as the Graduation Coach of Greene County High School. At Greene County High, I also started my coaching career, and I had an opportunity to give my knowledge back to my community to help our varsity teams to succeed. I coached football, basketball, and track. As a leader in my community, it was no better feeling than to go back to my roots to give back my knowledge. In my two-year tenure at Greene County High School, I lead the charge of getting 96 out of 112 students accepted into college along with 7 million dollars in scholarship. In those two years, I coached State champion High Jumper Essence Randolph, who obtained a scholarship to Savanah State University, and All-State Running Back Devin Wynn, who received a scholarship to Furman University.

At this point, I knew I found my calling, and I needed to do this work on a significant scale. I started to explore different options to coach students on and off the field by helping students graduate high school and obtain scholarships to pay for college. After searching and searching, I came across a Graduation Coach position at Alcovy High School in Covington, GA. The school was relatively new, and I had not even heard of it. It was what I was looking for, though. It was a Title I school with a population of 1,800 students where I got an opportunity to help students graduate and obtain scholarships and continue to coach my three sports (football, basketball, and track). My Alcovy experience helped me learn so much about myself as a coach who serves many people from many different backgrounds. In my two-year tenure as the Graduation Coach, I lead the charge of helping students obtain over $30 million in athletic and academic scholarships and posted a graduation rate of 82 % or higher in both years. At this point of my journey, I confirmed this is supposed to be life’s work!

As I completed my 2nd year at Alcovy, I started to feel limited in my role, and I felt as if I needed to touch more people in my path. I began to get my entrepreneurial itch, and I knew my time was coming to an end in the school system, and I needed to shift to stay on par with my mission to serve students by helping them graduate high school and obtain scholarships. Coach Alexander Enterprises was established in May 2019 with a mission to help adolescents reach their full potential through fitness, education, and motivation. I knew I was not ready to be a full-time entrepreneur. I needed to learn more about running a business and working with young adults. I prayed and searched for different opportunities to fulfill my need to run my company and make an income to support my family—a chance to work for the Boys and Girls Club as a Club Director was presented to me. The only thing about taking this opportunity is that I had to stop coaching full time, and I decided to use my expertise for myself and started to train student-athletes.

I loved the freedom this opportunity gave me to run my business by training athletes on the weekend and helping families during the week gain the resources they need to survive and advance in life. I gained valuable experience by understanding how to be a true community leader by being selfless and serving the people that needed me the most. I learned to run a facility and manage a budget of over $400k. As I learned the valuable experience I needed to run a company, the COVID-19 Pandemic happened, and everything stopped. I felt as if I was stagnant and not fulfilling my mission to serve students to help them get accepted into college and obtain academic and athletic scholarships, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic. In October 2020, I was in a life-threatening car wreck. It showed me life is too short to wait to fulfill my dream of being a full-time entrepreneur and serving to help adolescents reach their full potential through fitness, education, and motivation. I resigned from my position the week before Thanksgiving, I got married on 11/21/20 and I have stepped out on faith as a full-time certified personal trainer, college and career coach, and mentor. The services Coach Alexander offers are sports performance training, College and Career Coaching, and Mentorship. All of my services are virtual or mobile. I primarily serve the East Metro Atlanta area, Newton, Rockdale, and Dekalb counties.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road getting to where I am. The hardest part was taking a leap of faith and resigning from my job. I took a chance on myself after recently getting married on 11/21/2020 to my beautiful wife, Danielle. I had to plan and discipline myself financially to have at least six months of saving to make my dreams become a reality of operating my company full time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Coach Alexander Enterprises is a business for the people. It’s all about helping people to succeed with a focus on adolescents ages 7-24. The mission of CAEnterprises is to help adolescents reach their full potential through fitness, education, and motivation. We offer sports performance and fitness training, college and career coaching, and mentorship through positive motivation. We mentor through sports and fitness and help adolescents prepare for their future by guiding them through the college admission process, teaching business etiquette, and critical life skills (ex. credit, budgeting).

We believe if you can positively impact the youth, you can truly change the world because youth are our future. I think the investment in them will affect the whole family. Everything starts at home. If we can positively influence people, they will do the same to someone else. They will continue to show love and become positive leaders for their families and community. What separates CAEnterprises is our holistic focus on the mind(education), body(fitness), and spirit(mentorship). With our holistic approach, our target goal is a balance of life for our clients, which will lead them to peace and happiness. What I’m most proud of about my business is my clients’ growth, how they come in at one level and leave on a higher level mentally, spiritually, and physically in one session.

How do you think about luck?
I honestly don’t believe in luck because God has blessed me every step of my journey. I prayed and asked God to use me as he saw fit, and he placed my company on my spirit. He’s been preparing me for this all of my life through my work experience. I feel my business is divine, and it’s meant to help positively change the world.
