Hidden Gems: Meet Gala J. Marcus of Cocoa Nior Extentions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gala J. Marcus

Hi Gala, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was in middle school, I used to sell snacks every day against the schools will. Hot Cheetos, sour straws, starburst, sour patch kids. You name it & I had it. I would end up gaining almost $45-$100 a day. While I was selling the snacks, my mom would help me revise my prices & buy the product so I could actually gain a profit! She knew then that I’d be a business woman one day. My late grandfather & my Dad own a poultry farm in Pelham, Georgia. My mom owns a hair salon in Baconton, Georgia as well. So, entrepreneurship runs in the family. I spent a lot of my childhood learning the ins and outs of our family farm & my mom’s shop. My parents taught me the economic sense of business at a young age. So, I definitely have a head for it. In March of 2020, the global pandemic took a hard hit in my home town. Schools were given an early release under the impression that we would just be going on a 2-week break. That “2-week break” turned into a year. All I had was time on my hands & was struggling on what I would make of it. Later that month, I started to think of ways I could make money other than staying at my job at McDonald’s. There were tons of late nights that I would of think things that I could sell that people would actually buy. And then it hit me… HAIR!! I saw that lots of other girls were starting their businesses during the quarantine so that gave me motivation… Every day that I woke up, a new business had launched. I knew what I wanted to do, but I also knew that the time wasn’t right. I wanted everything to be perfect. After 11 months of testing vendors, I finally found the best one and I launched Cocoa Nior Extentions on February 1, 2021🤎

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Though I haven’t been open long, it definitely has not been easy. In my first week of business, there was a slight issue with my website, though I still don’t know what the problem actually was, my site refunded all of my customers… This led me to start from scratch. It made me want to quit already, but this was only a minor setback for a major comeback!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
