Conversations with Conrad Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Conrad Jackson.

Hi Conrad, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A Positive Voice Ministry started my freshman year of college. My roommate and I were both battling the struggles being a freshman and starting a new journey. We decided to put a banner up on our wall that said: “Positive Vibes Only.” After leaving Reinhardt University the following semester, I began to develop a strong desire for young teens and college students. I knew the depression and anxiety I was facing during school should be talked about and I believed I could help others that were going through similar things. I started doing motivational speaking at different places on campus, hosting events in my hometown, and designing merchandise to spread a movement. So far, I have hosted five events and have gotten back great feedback within my community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. Marketing, time management, consistency, and procrastination have been a struggle for my organization.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As of now, I am finishing my bachelor’s degree in Business at Columbus State University, which I plan to graduate this spring 2021. I am currently employed at Walmart, where I am an auto care technician. I am mostly proud of completing college because I never liked school and most of my family members only have a high school diploma. Being able to graduate college will be a huge accomplishment for me and my family.

What are your plans for the future?
My goal is to open a facility for my organization. I would like to have counselors that can directly associate with people who attend. Within the facility, I would like a variety of activities to be conducted, such as Art, music, sports, technology. I would like specialized counselors that can have one on one interactions with attendees and can relate with them in one of the four categories.
