Community Highlights: Meet Grace Ramsey and Jasmine Jones of GE’JA Catering Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Ramsey and Jasmine Jones.

Hi Grace and Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
To introduce ourselves, we are Grace Ramsey and Jasmine Jones. The owners and founders of one of the best upcoming catering black-owned businesses. Our story begins with being high school friends. We lost touch a little after everyone went their separate ways for college. But we reunited in 2019, working together at Ms. Icey’s Bar and Kitchen. Grace always wanted to own her own restaurant, while Jasmine just wanted to come upon her own in a way. They both enjoy cooking as they are always asked to cook for they family and others who enjoy their cooking. We started talking about our dreams and business with each other, and what better way to go into business with someone you know, fully trust, and have the same passion and desire as yourself? November 26, 2019, was the launch/establishment date for GE’JA Catering Events (Gee-Jay) as we served Thanksgiving plates for the holiday and ever since, we’ve been accomplishing and setting more goals.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. We’ve dealt with family problems that could knock off our focus from the business. We both were be working full-time jobs, uneasy scheduling, not enough pay and disrespectful employees/employers that would consistently remind us to stay on focus. Some days when we would sell plates, we wouldn’t receive any business at all, or even sometimes we have people who order our plates, and when it comes time to pay, we wouldn’t hear back from them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are black-owned catering company owned by two talented women who have a passion for what we do and love what we do. Jasmine and Grace love filling people’s hearts and souls with our very own cooked meals. Our motto, as some would say, is “Food made with soul from the soul” we just feel like this describes our food and how much love goes into it. We specialize in caterings, special events, private dinners, and meal prepping. We are mainly known for our private dinners, our caterings, and the plates that we sell weekly, sometimes daily. We would have to say our flavor, creativity, and how much love we put into our food sets us apart from others! Also, the fact that we have to perfect everything that we do and our relationship to each other is so strong. We are each other’s backbone when it comes to OUR business!

Pricing:

  • Private Dinners $200 for 2.
  • Meal Preps $75 for 5 meals.
