Hi Somya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was working as a senior developer for one of the biggest telecom companies on high-end technologies. Though I have been a software developer for six years, I always wanted to start something of my own, where I would be my boss and an employee at the same time. Last year I was expecting. The thought of responsibilities that were about to come were weighing on my mind. One thing was sure that I did not want to juggle the office and taking care of my child. I, along with my husband, had decided to not leave our kid in daycare. This was a personal decision that we took as a family. I did not want to leave the technologies that I had learned and sweat that I have put in for six years. It then clicked to me that I should start something of my own. While I had a lot of technical and professional experience, I knew it would be difficult the first few months in the business. But still, I was going to try for a different type of IT work. Just to give an idea, working for enterprises and help small businesses is a widely different game. Plus, I did not have professional experience with the technologies that I was going to use to help small businesses.
Finally, I registered the company- Takneeki Web Design and started local marketing using my website. Takneeki is a word from the oldest language- Sanskrit. The English term technology is said to have derived from this Sanskrit word Takneeki. My professional experience helped me a lot in getting to know the exact requirements of clients and helping them in the best possible way. My company has given me a platform where I can work on my hours. I can now take care of my newborn as well. Today we have multiple small and big clients. Our clients have given us a 5-star rating in reviews. Takneeki Web Design is based out of Alpharetta. We offer website design, social media marketing, website maintenance, and consulting. Our clients have appreciated us for giving them time to exactly understand what they need and helping them in their businesses. We got recognized as one of the top Web Design Companies of 2020 by DesignRush. We are growing as a startup and hope to expand our business in the future to offer more services in the city of Atlanta as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To get website design and marketing projects in cities like Alpharetta, Cumming GA, etc. was not easy. I lost many leads because I did not know what to say and, more importantly, what not to say. Slow and steady, my website started ranking on page one in Google in Alpharetta and nearby areas. I learned new technical skills on the way that was widely different from what I had been doing so far.
