Life & Work with Amber Danielle Tittle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Danielle Tittle.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey as a creator and artist started as a child. I‘ve always had an interest in beauty, fashion, and art in different forms of expression. I grew up with so much opportunity in the arts- dance, theater, and choir. From there, I decided to pursue music in college and was introduced to the world of opera. Opera holds a special place in my heart. I love the grandness of it all-the wigs, costumes, and makeup. While in opera theater, I took a serious interest in stage makeup. I began to assist the professional makeup artists that would come in for our productions and learned some skills along the way.

Over the years, I continued to dabble in makeup, in general, but never felt confident to pursue being a makeup artist professionally. When quarantine hit, I had to think on my feet and rework my life as live performing came to a complete stop. I had nothing but time on my hands, and I decided there was no better time than now to start pursuing my passion for the beauty world. In August 2020, I started my blog, As Told by Amber, and my journey to become a beauty influencer. I share my love for beauty and fashion while also helping other influencers with tips and tutorials. I love the idea of being an influencer because it truly allows me to be exactly what I am- a creator.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has NOT been smooth. I have definitely hit some bumps along the way. Before the pandemic, I was actually a working musician. I was an active member of the Atlanta Opera chorus, a church musician, and a freelance professional singer. Right before everything was shut down, I decided to make a career change into the airline industry. I was excited to start building a career that I felt would have longevity. Unfortunately, I ended up being placed on indefinite leave because of the pandemic. To say I felt defeated is an understatement. My career that I had been pursuing for the last ten years was virtually non-existent, and my future career was on hold. After the loss of both incomes, I decided that I was going to just take a risk and go all-in on becoming an influencer. In a weird way, I’ve become grateful for the forced pause because, without it, I wouldn’t have had the push to pursue a new passion. I also wouldn’t have had the time to really figure out the ins and outs of being an influencer. Those bumps were just a part of the greater plan, apparently!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently a beauty and midsize fashion blogger. When it comes to beauty, I specialize in glam but am looking to transition into more stage makeup as well. I’ve been very into the transformation side of beauty, where I see how drastically different I can make myself look with fun makeup ideas. When it comes to fashion, I specialize in midsize fashion. Midsize includes women who fall in between standard and plus sizes (usually between sizes 10-14). My blog is all about expressing yourself and loving the body you were given. I view myself as a regular woman that loves connecting with people, and I think that my blog reads that way. I am all about spreading my knowledge with others through tutorials that help my audience master those “influencer” skills without the headache of having to figure it out on their own. I view being an influencer as a platform to teach and relate to others, so I find that my audience sees me as a friend that they can ask any question to and I honestly love that!

Can you talk about how you think about risk?
I think that anything that you have a passion for is worth taking the risk. You will never know if you could have been successful at that one thing that you love if you never take the risk. I view risk as a gateway to discovering something about yourself. If you win, the risk was worth it because you’ve learned that you were capable all along. If you fail, the risk was STILL worth it because you’ve likely gained some valuable lessons along the way. To me, it’s a win/win situation.
