Inspiring Conversations with Tennille Padmore of The Tee Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tennille Padmore.

Hi Tennille, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was a Junior at Savannah State University, I knew once I graduated I did not want to work for anyone or move back home to Jacksonville, FL. I remember it like it was yesterday, I ended up getting fired from my job. I had just purchased a brand new car and had to pay my car note and car insurance every month so I knew I had to do something. I was originally supposed to start my business in 2017 but I was always hesitant. I thought I would get no support so I kept putting it on hold. When I got fired from my job I knew right then and there I could not put my business on hold anymore. I started off selling lashes. I ordered cute baggies, lash brushes and business cards. I ordered 40 pair of lashes just to see how fast they would sell and they sold QUICK. The girls love lashes so I kept buying more and more. Once I got another job I started investing in my hair business little by little. June 1st, 2019 I officially launched my hair business and February 2, 2021 I reached six figures. Investing in myself was the best thing I ever did. Eventually I want to expand and open my own warehouse and also get into real estate.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is definitely not a smooth road. Being an entrepreneur is not for the weak. There is a lot that comes with it from building your brand, dealing with customer disputes, testing your products and learning effective sales strategies. A lot of entrepreneurs only talk about and show you the glitz and glam. They never talk about how many times they wanted to give up, how many tears you will cry, how much money you will lose and just the downside in general. There has been many times I wanted to give up and questioned if this was for me. It is easy to get discouraged. I tell people all of the time you have to be SELF MOTIVATED. Your business will have its good days and bad days. It is all a learning process.

We’ve been impressed with The Tee Collection, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my business is The Tee Collection, an online hair store. I sell bundles, frontals, closures and lace wigs. My business is most known for its curly hair and laces. My curly hair textures (Deep wave and Deep curly) are my best sellers and my laces are thin so the lace looks like your real scalp which makes it difficult to detect. What I am most proud of is how I built a six-figure brand in less than two years. That was a major milestone for me because I did not think I would reach that goal this early on. I want your readers to know they can find me on google “theteecollectionn” I also have vender list available for anyone who wants to start their business, and I will be coming out with an eBook about my journey to six-figures soon.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I played basketball and softball. I was always goofy and loved to laugh and play around. I got in trouble a lot in middle school and high school. I got kicked out of school four times. I definitely never seen myself going to college. My 12th grade year is when I knew I had to get my act together because I knew I wanted to move out of Jacksonville and college was my only way out at the time. May 9, 2020 I graduated from Savannah State University with my bachelors in business and moved to Atlanta, GA.
