Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Butt.
Hi Rose, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I guess my love for photography started when I was pretty young. My grandfather gave me my first camera. He himself had quite a love for being behind the camera as well. He did his best to capture every precious moment. Now that I’m older and I have my own photography business, I do my best to capture my clients’ precious moments!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Things haven’t always been so great. When I first started out, I had a really hard time finding the value in my time… I still struggle with this one today! Photography is my passion. I do it because I absolutely love it… It’s never been about the money to me… However, I’ve learned quite a bit about the importance of valuing my own time and energy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
The past 4 1/2 years have truly flown by. When I first started out, I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to actually book a paying session… I lacked so much confidence in myself, so I decided one day to boost my confidence while helping someone else boost theirs. I started offering a few free shots, mostly focused around body positivity… And I quickly discovered that photography for me is a form of therapy! It is so soothing for me to be behind the camera capturing moments that I get to share with everyone. Shortly after offering so many free sessions, people started hearing more about me and word got back to me that a session with me “feels more like therapy than a photo shoot!”
That truly ignited something within me! I just wanted to lean into that so much… I wanted to make sure that my clients felt completely safe and comfortable shooting with me! I truly feel like I have accomplished that so far, and I think it shows in my work!
