Today we’d like to introduce you to Tavaris Jones.
Hi Tavaris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been an entrepreneur of some sort. My first taste of business was in middle school. Selling chips and drinks to my classmates during our and standardized testing time. My mom has always been my biggest inspiration. Her work ethic and all the sacrifices I saw her make to provide for me and my brother, filled me drive and ambition. It molded me into a hard worker, but it wasn’t until my son was born that I decided to become more than that.
I wanted to create something that would not only build a legacy for my family but have a great impact on our community and communities around the country someday. My company Edgestone Sharpening and Repair, specializes in surgical instrument refurbishment. Hospitals and surgery centers around the country spend millions on stainless steel surgical instruments. My company allows them to save money by refurbishing their instruments to original equipment manufacturer standards. This not only saves them money but allows us the ability to create jobs and give people a skill they can use for the rest of their lives.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been smooth at all. I’ve had a lot of emails go unanswered, phone calls not be returned, and doors slammed in my face. In the beginning, I really took those moments personally because of the passion I have for this business. I had to learn that “NO” means Next Opportunity. If deals didn’t go through for whatever reason, there’s always been something bigger on the horizon. So “NO” is my sign that greater is right around the corner.

Edgestone Sharpening and Repair is a surgical instrument refurbishment company. We resharpen, repair, or replace the stainless steel instruments used in surgical procedures. What sets us apart is that we provide on-location or same-day services. We make sure that whatever is given to us by a facility to be repaired is given back to them functioning at it best the same day.
