Meet Rebecca Harman of The Neighborhood Ballet in Ormewood Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Harman.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rebecca. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I had just welcomed my second little boy when I realized the long drive to the beloved ballet school where I had taught for eleven years had become too much on our family. Simultaneously, my friend who had been serving as a ballet teacher to the Grant Park community for many years was going to be moving on, thus a need for a ballet teacher in the area arose. All signs were leading for me to create my own ballet school. After lots of dreaming and brainstorming, TNB was born, and I am so excited to be serving my own community by offering dance classes for both children and adults. TNB offers a nurturing environment – one which fosters movement, creativity, dedication, beauty, and discipline. I consider myself so fortunate to be able to share the rich tradition of the classical arts with my students.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Balancing being a small business owner, a wife, and mother of two young children has definitely been challenging at times. My husband and boys have been so supportive of this dream of mine and the success of the studio would not be possible if not for them.

The Neighborhood Ballet – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We teach dance classes for children and adults. Our faculty has a lifelong passion for the art form and are dedicated to educating and nurturing our students.
