Today we’d like to introduce you to Mack, Deborah and Micah McKibben.
Mack, Deborah and Micah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been selling Roland keyboards for 27 years, and moving/tuning/selling pianos for well over 45 years, and playing pianos my whole life.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We opened in Oct. of 2007, just a few weeks before the bottom fell out economically. Did not see it coming.
McKibbens Music – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have always had a passion for music and witnessing the love and happiness that it can spread, so I wanted to give this to my community. We are celebrating 10 years, this Sunday as a matter of fact, and 10 years ago, about 3 months after we opened, the recession hit hard. We made it through that and we are still growing. We have 11 teachers and 250 students per week and we are having to add more rooms for growth. We are truly blessed and very grateful for our customers and the opportunity to meet so many great people. We are also a full musical retail store with anything from guitar strings, to violins, to horn rentals. We will soon be offering audio installs for churches, music venues, schools etc. and we are very excited about this venture. We also tune, move and sell pianos, as well as repair guitars and amplifiers. We are a family owned and operated business, and when you come through our doors, you’re treated as family.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I would define success by being happy with what you do, and by helping someone succeed in their dreams, no matter how big or small.
