I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t believe anybody gets out of life with a smooth road. There are always going to be some difficult times somehow somewhere along the journey. A lot of my personal struggles have been with dealing with the failures of obtaining childhood dreams and having to find a way to navigate and create a new path for myself. As a high-level football student-athlete for the majority of my life, I was hardpressed on remaining an athlete after graduating college, but there weren’t many options for me to continue the sport I loved. Some of my biggest struggles were finding self-worth again post my football career. Really exploring the depths of my brain and dissecting what I could do in life to make a difference and also keep myself motivated and happy.
I spent over a decade of my life exploring and finding myself after a life of athletics. Truly analyzing my strengths and weaknesses and what I could do to make a living outside of the game of football. This process came with a lot of personal struggles, but through the pain comes pleasure. I finally started to land jobs, assignments, and opportunities within my field of choice. I believe life is all about finding yourself. If we aren’t spending every waking minute doing things that make us happy I don’t believe we are living a life worth living. You have to dig deep in life to find your mission in life and I finally believe my visions are starting to become a reality. I am hopeful and confident about the path I am on now, but it took a lot of dark times to find the light. I encourage everybody to keep going even when you get knocked down.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a visionary. I am extremely passionate about connecting people and ideas to make them a reality. As a well-rounded individual, I have never really had a difficult time connecting with someone on a deeper level. As everybody is equipped with personal gifts, I’m confident that some of my best traits are relatability, the ability to analyze and find ways to make the pieces work together. Finding commonalities to bring different parties together in a mutually beneficial and advantageous way is something I am confident with.
I am most proud of being an active father in my son’s life. Parenthood has opened up a new corridor for me I never knew existed inside of myself. It’s taught me so much more about accountability, truly being present, and understanding how every action has an equal and opposite reaction that has been defined and realized because I have little eyes on me now looking up to me to lead them down the right path.
I believe something that sets me apart from others is my drive, compassion, and motivation to win in the game of life. Being an underdog the majority of my life, has lit a fire inside of me that wakes me up early in the morning and drives me throughout the day to be active physically, mentally, and spiritually. A life without balance inside of those three hemispheres can lead to chaotic consequences. I’m not saying I’ve figured out everything, but I understand that balance and inner peace are paramount for a successful career and life.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The thing that matters the most to me in life and in business the most is making sure that my mission is carried out on this planet. I’ve learned with compassion and understanding you can achieve a lot in a team-oriented atmosphere. I have a huge philanthropic heart and every day I find ways to build up the long-term game plan of bringing happiness to other people’s lives.
As a non-profit founder of The Oliver Tree Foundation.org, I am navigating ways to affect people positively dealing with mental and physical well-being. Through this Atlanta-based nonprofit, I plan on obtaining specified programs and goals to uplift people through exciting programs providing work and leisure activities to alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression. The programs will be centered around things that matter the most to those individuals and not what the world wants from you.
