Hidden Gems: Meet Naeemah Ford Goldson of Restore Order Professional Organizing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naeemah Ford Goldson.

Hi Naeemah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I decided to start my professional organizing business in 2012, after hiring a professional organizer to help my mother. I realized I was my mom’s personal organizer whenever I went to visit her in Nebraska, so why not turn it into a business? In 2013, I launched Restore Order Professional Organizing, and I’ve had so many great opportunities since.

I make appearances on national television as an Organizing Expert, and I’ve contributed to numerous articles in several magazines: Parents, Martha Stewart Living, and Good Housekeeping to name a few. I am also the author of Tidy Tessa, a children’s book that teaches kids how to become organized.

I have also started two other organizing businesses with other professional organizers. The first is the National Association of Black Professional Organizers, where I am the current President. Through this organization, we support BIPOC professional organizers through education and mentorship. My other business is Ebony & Orderly, which is a collaboration of six professional organizers in the Atlanta area. Each organizer owns her own business and we come together to host conferences and workshops to educate our community on the benefits of becoming organized. We even collaborated on a book titled 28 Days of Prioritizing You: An Ebony & Orderly Journal. Both books can be purchased on Amazon.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every business has its challenges, and I think many of us were hit hard with the pandemic. It served as a good time for me to pivot and reevaluate what I like and dislike about my business. It caused me to really focus on what is important to me, which is helping people beyond the Atlanta Metro area become organized. I was able to launch the Organize Me! Radio podcast where I chat with other professionals on various topics surrounding organization. You can listen to my podcast on Spotify, Apple, iHeartRadio, or any other podcast platform. You can also watch the video version of my podcast on my YouTube channel: Restore Order with Naeemah.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in transforming spaces through design. I have designed countless closets, pantries, home offices, garages, media centers, mudrooms, playrooms, and other spaces around the home. I am known for my simple, clean, and beautifully organized spaces. I am most proud of all that I’ve been able to accomplish within the almost ten years of my business. I have more projects and opportunities coming up, so make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow me on social media.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love self-help books! Listening to how others got to where they are today helps to motivate me. My favorite book at the moment is More Than Enough by Elaine Welteroth. I highly suggest this book for all women! I also highly recommend my Organize Me! Radio podcast, it will definitely help you become organized!
