Meet Janice Overbeck of Janice Overbeck Real Estate Team in Cobb County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janice Overbeck.

Janice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an Atlanta native and have been in the Residential Real Estate business since June 2009. My husband was born in Bremen, Germany and we met here in Atlanta while attending college together. We eloped after 2 years of knowing each other and became partners in marriage and business. We have since grown our family and our business exponentially. We have 4 daughters, ages 7, 5, 2 and 3 months and I am the CEO/Team Leader that of the Janice Overbeck Real Estate Team, ranked in March 2017 the number one Real Estate team in Cobb County for 2016.

We were ranked number 1 by a landslide. We sold more than 50 homes over what the number 2 team sold for 2016. Cobb County is a very large county. It has more than 777,000 residents. It is home to the new Major League Baseball stadium that just opened up for the Atlanta Braves. The U.S. Census Bureau ranks Cobb County as the most-educated in the state of Georgia and 12th among all counties in the United States. It has ranked among the top 100 wealthiest counties in the United States. The schools in Cobb are the highest ranking in the state. My team and I are very proud of this accomplishment and my goal is to be number one in the Southeastern region of the United States in three years.

My Real Estate Team (sales agents and staff) includes over 30 skilled professionals, including my husband, older brother, sister and cousin. My husband and I recently purchased a Cobb County landmark, Hollycrest Hall, where 44,000 cars pass by daily, and converted it into our business office. We documented the renovation with lots of photos and videos and moved into the building in December 2016. Our house is a few miles away from the business office, and our family is so close that we live within walking distance from both my Brother and Sister. Our house is often referred to as Overbeck Grand Central Station, as we have so many family members coming in and out on a daily basis. We are so blessed to have our children in close proximity and that we all work so well together and have been able to be so successful.

My husband and I are also avid house flippers and have been flourishing in the market since it tanked in 2007. Despite the economic downturn, our business continued to grow successfully and we have flipped over 60 houses to date!!! We can substantiate these numbers and have a plethora of before and after photos of each property we renovated.

Business Accomplishments to date:

I was on the news on July 20 2017 about a pet adoption day I am going to put on at my new office: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWLNsYsl_10 (and this is now being put in local newspapers and magazines like crazy)

At 29 (in 2014), I was selected by the National Association of Realtors as one of the 30 Under 30 rising stars in the Real Estate Industry. Only 30 people selected from tens of thousands of Realtors in the United States.

I have been quoted multiple times on the front of the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) for my knowledge of the Atlanta Real Estate market. The AJC is the only major daily newspaper in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia, United States.

At 28, in 2013 I was ranked the #1 agent in homes sold for Atlanta Fine Homes, Sotheby’s International Realty. At that time there were over 300 agents across 3 offices throughout metro-Atlanta. I would have ranked #1 again in 2014, but left the company to join Keller Williams in January 2015, right before the awards were given out for the previous year. I obtained my Undergraduate degree in Marketing with a minor in Spanish in 2006 at 21 years old. I obtained my Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in real estate finance in 2008 at 23 years old.

I began working for Morgan Stanley at 23 years old in real estate development for Atlanta and Southeast Florida right after grad school and prior to quitting that job to pursue being a real estate entrepreneur. I am trilingual (English, Spanish and German).

Has it been a smooth road?
Building a big business and growing it while having four kids. I have sold hundreds of homes and been pregnant or nursing almost the entire time. I have four daughters ages 7, 5, 3, and 6 months. 🙂

We plan to: raise $25,000 in 2017 for ALS research at Emory University, raise enough money to be able to place two water wells per year in Africa with World Vision and lastly, make Cobb County a euthanize-free zone for homeless dogs and cats. Atlanta is awesome for really good restaurants, great big sports teams and cool concerts. Traffic is terrible.
