Community Highlights: Meet Danielle Renard of Lumenaluxaesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Renard.

Hi Danielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hi! My name is Danielle Renard ,18 year old lash tech. Being an individual lash technician was not something I ever thought I would be doing. I was a high school student very passionate about competitive cheerleading, but suffered from bad anxiety and depression being I got sexually assaulted in school. I had such a hard time letting go of this trauma and I had to switch high schools, go to therapy, and went to non-stop court cases. Cheer played a big role in releasing stress, but throughout high school, I absolutely loved the beauty industry and loved how it made me feel personally after, from the feeling of getting your hair freshly done, to getting a set of nails and it making your day. I got my lashes done the first time my junior year of high school and that was a completely different type of feeling when done. It was beyond therapeutic and gave me time to feel as if I were in a safe place and could relax. Not only that, after I got to have the joy of a beautiful lash set after. That’s when I knew I wanted to forever bring clients that comfort and stability. I got more invested in the spa industry and knew as soon as I finished high school, Esthetician School is where I wanted to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a business is far from smooth.I have had so many discouraging moments of having a week completely booked to the next week only having 2 people. You have to drill in your head that quitting is not an option, because sometimes it can feel like your only option. I have compared myself a lot which can really make me doubt my abilities. You have to be your biggest supporter and understand change does not happen overnight!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lumenaluxaesthetics?
I am an individual lash technician and I absolutely love what I do. I get my name LumenaLux from my grandmother Lumena, who passed and I know she would be beyond proud of me. I apply false individuals or fan on the individual of each lash making a lash set you desire. I also call my job “mini therapy” as you can take a well-rested nap or simply talk to me about your day as I listen and become a companion. I currently am 18 and in esthetician school because I couldn’t just stop there. My interest in pleasing other and being a part of people’s schedule as something to look forward to is my favorite. After graduation of esthetics, I plan on not only doing lashes but becoming a facial professional ,waxing ,and starting an efficient skin care line. I genuinely believe my personality and drive really makes coming to me for business a no brainer, because you feel safe and well taken care of.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
You’re never done learning. Subscribe to educational articles, YouTube channels, etc. The beauty industry changes very often adding new trends, and you have to continue to stay up to date. Have a journal full of notes that you can always refer to. Being familiar with important vocabulary and health concerns is very important for you to be the most effective business owner. One thing that has helped me tremendously is joining webinars and hearing people with decades of experience going in depth on what you do.
