Life & Work with Lucius Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucius Williams.

Hi Lucius, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The idea of me picking up a camera came to me around the end of 2017. I was working at a plant called Madix, which is in a small town called Eclectic, AL. I worked there to save up enough money to go back to school. While working there I was miserable and knew that wasn’t something I wanted to do long term. I ended up ordering a photography book from Amazon, which consisted of about 300 pages informing me about how to use a camera and its settings. I read about 15-20 pages a day because I was eager to learn everything I could.

In 2018, when I received my income tax check, I decided to invest into my first camera to see how far I could go with it… and I must say, I’ve come far. I took photos for about 9 months then switched over to a full-time videographer because I knew that I could make more bread. It’s crazy every time I think about it because I’ve always been fond of watching music videos and wanting to learn how to film and edit them, but I was always held back by fear. In November of 2018, I shot my first music video. If I had to rate it, I would say that it was a 2/10 (lol).

Nonetheless, WE ALL HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE. I just kept learning new things everyday and I continued to shoot music videos because I was determined to be the best that I could be! I remember there were days that I wanted to shoot so bad that I would hit up an artist and shoot them for free. Sometimes I would shoot music videos for $50 just to have money in my pockets. I would always keep the saying “you’ve got to crawl before you walk” in my head and it brought me a long way. There was a lot of hard work, prayer and dedication put into my craft but in the end… it paid off for me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has had its ups and downs, but I’ve always managed to get over every obstacle placed in front of me. In the beginning of my career, I was flat-out broke. Keeping God first, staying positive, remaining humble, and hard work always kept me going. Dreams always start out with rough and rainy days, but if you keep going, you’ll eventually see sunlight again!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

I’m a full-time videographer that specializes in filmmaking. I’m known for my crazy video effects that I incorporate in majority of the music videos that I film. Seeing my business and craft flourish from 2018 until now is what I’m mostly proud of. What sets me apart from other videographers and editors is that I’m very down to earth, humble, and I also provide good business to all my clients. At the end of the day, my clients are everything to me because without them I wouldn’t be Dinero the Shoota. I’m just blessed to be in my position. I owe it all to the man above!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would be me & my cousins playing freeze tag, hide & seek, & around the world at my Aunt Brenda’s crib. Those days were always the best. It was really a time to be alive back then!
