Today we’d like to introduce you to Katina Terry.
Hi Katina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From my humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana I always loved fashion from an early age. I could remember my cousin and I sneaking into our older cousin’s clothes trying to stay within the latest trends. Although, financially we didn’t have a lot I found ways to make my fashion style work at affordable prices. It has always been a dream of mine to open a clothing boutique that offered affordable fashions for the everyday diva that wants to look fashionable for less. I decided to take a leap in 2007 with selling jewelry but that really wasn’t my true passion. Then, I put it all on the back burner because life got in the way… raising young kids, attending graduate school, working, and family life.
At the point that I thought it wasn’t going to ever happen, my husband pushed me towards my dream. He surprised me by financing my initial purchases and helping me to get licensed to get my online clothing boutique, Prim & Poshy, started on November 6, 2020.
After almost a year in business I have expanded my business to a brick and mortar location at The Painted Tree Boutiques and I am still operating an online boutique.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I will be honest and say the journey hasn’t been smooth but I have learned a lot about the business side of it and very appreciative of the lessons that I have learned along the way. I struggled with honing in on the right products to sell, how to launch my business while trying to balance and maintain a family life, work and trying to figure how to financially make it all work.
We’ve been impressed with Prim & Poshy Boutique , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Prim & Poshy Boutique specializes in trendy and affordable clothing. My goal was to target the “everyday ” diva that may work in the corporate world but wants to dress in boutique style clothing on a budget. It was my goal to ensure that I offered business wear, dressy/formal, casual and athletic wear for the Prim & Poshy diva.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love that I am creating a life that will allow me to spend more time with my family. I have learned that happiness comes from not just tangible things but moments that are created and the people that you spend it with each day.
