Today we’d like to introduce you to Rolando Brown.
Hi Rolando, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My passion for audio was born out of my love for music when I was in high school. I started rapping with friends and eventually wanted to learn how to record myself and make my own music, around this time I took a music technology course my sophomore year. Fast forward to my senior year I took a technical course in music recording at Grayson Tech and since then I knew audio was the life for me. I initially planned to go to Full Sail University after high school but ended up joining the Army. After my time in the Army, I attended SAE in Atlanta, followed by the Art Institute of Atlanta and the rest is history.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not a smooth road at all but, I love the challenges this path has brought me and the skills, audio related or not, that I’ve acquired along the way. Employment was one of my biggest challenges, being a freelancer and working in different venues at various different times is not easy. I have to plan my schedule ahead of time while trying to remain available for any sudden opportunities arise. Another challenge, which is one of my favorites is trial by fire. Because life begins outside of our comfort zones, there have been several occasions where I have been put in a position that I didn’t believe I was ready for and ended up thriving. Not to neglect the fact that I made mistakes, some big some small, but the experience and the rush of it all just makes me love what I do even more.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ro Scythe LLC?
I started my business to help bring up and coming artists dreams to life by providing quality and affordable audio services, from recording to mixing and consultation on what their next steps could be. As a former artist, I feel this sets me apart from other engineers who may not have that understanding of what an artist goes through mentally about their music and their craft. Brand wise I am most proud of not only creating my own brand but hiring other creatives that I personally know to help me with the visuals for my brand. I make it a goal to support other creatives that I know personally by hiring them and then promoting their work to others.
