Hi Daisy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I started doing hair when I was in 6th grade. Of course, it was braids because weave wasn’t a big thing then. I migrated to weaves and natural hair when I was 16 and being going hard ever since. I started by doing the popular girl’s hair first and then I started getting clientele based off word of mouth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I used to struggle with telling people no, so sometimes I would find myself in the salon all day and all night and wasn’t really enjoying my life. I’ve did more for people in this industry and helped multiple companies off of love and I realized I shouldn’t have. I used to have people in my corner who was only around me because they benefited off of me, I had to learn everything the hard way. I never had people to really teach me how dirty this hair industry get. Till this day, I’m still learning but trust me, I’ve gotten a lot better. I’m starting to put myself first.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in Weaves and extensions. I’m very known for my styling, I’ve been told you can tell when somebody gets they hair done by Daisy because I have this certain touch. I’m most proud of my growth. I’m learning ALOT about myself through this journey, I’m meeting a lot of interesting people. I’m learning how to be more professional and take my personal feelings out of business. That is one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in my 11years of doing hair. What sets me apart from others is I actually LOVE doing hair, I’m not in it for the money. I do it because it’s my passion, it’s my safe place. When I’m going through something in my personal life, I know I can run to the shop to clear my mind. I’m very transparent, I love those who support me and I literally love putting people on, especially the black own businesses because I think we are rare and need to be appreciated ALOT more.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I actually have a lot of things a lot of people don’t know. I love to dance, I love doing makeup like I really want to low-key be a makeup artist, I cry when I see dead animals on the side of the road, it makes me so emotional. It’s so much, lol.
