Check Out Taylor Fife’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Fife.

Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Sure, my name is Taylor, I am a 25 year old self taught makeup artist. I am from the city of heart & soul Atlanta, Georgia. I started to pique an interest in makeup while I was in college at Albany State University. I simply just wanted a something to supplement my income. I started to service my close friends and family (when in town). I put myself out there while in college and I didn’t get any interest from potential clients. Makeup became more than a job for me, it became a passion and a stress reliever. I quickly felt discouraged being that I wasn’t getting any clients; and came to the harsh decision that makeup wasn’t for me. I basically gave up when things weren’t easy. After graduating from Albany State University, the pandemic happened and the world basically shut down. Of course, bills still had to be paid, and money had to be made. I didn’t know what to do except do what I was good at & passionate about. I asked a couple of close friends/family to do a photoshoot for me to display my work. I prayed for a sound mind and optimism so I wouldn’t make the mistake of giving up. I made a post listing my prices, services offered and location. I continued to post content everyday, it probably got annoying. It didn’t happen overnight, but when it happened , it happened! Before I knew it, I started to get an abundance of shares, reposts, comments from people I didn’t even know. I never thought in a million years people would actually like my work (being new to the makeup scene). The following week I was booked solid. I started taking bookings everyday, and before I knew it, I had makeup opportunities coming from everywhere! Once my books started to fill up, make-up became my full-time job. May of 2021, I created my business “Taylor Your Face” and filed with the Georgia Secretary of State. Since then, I’ve done makeup for weddings, destination occasions, baby showers, birthdays, and the list goes on. I’m so humble for the opportunity I have been given to accelerate my makeup career here in Atlanta.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. In this career, I’ve learned lessons, dealt with hardships, heartbreak, death of loved ones, joys, celebrations and special moments that ultimately led me to where I am today. The road, for me, hasn’t always been smooth; in fact, throughout this journey I’ve encountered too many unexpected challenges to count. Things weren’t working out in my favor, people I thought would always support me left, I was hospitalized, consistent “dry months” and the list goes on. I wanted to give up, literally. These challenges tested my courage, strengths, weaknesses, and faith. Along the way, I stumbled upon obstacles that came in between what I wanted for my business versus what GOD had planned for my business. I knew I had things to do, goals to meet, and I couldn’t do anything sitting down and feeling like “oh, whoa it’s me.” So I did just that. In retrospect, these obstacles were really blessings in disguise, I just didn’t realize it at the time. But now, I’m forever grateful for what I went through then.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a 25 year old self-taught makeup artist based here in Atlanta, Georgia. I service weddings, birthdays, special occasions, and more. I specialize in natural looks however I’m equipped to do anything. I’m very transparent when it comes to my clients, I will let you know what look is most suitable for you. The proudest moment I’ve experienced in this career was booking my first wedding in 2020. The experience was unmatched and made me set goals I thought I couldn’t even touch. I’m set apart from others by thinking of ways I can contribute to a specific role/event. I come off as a confident and prepared to make this experience memorable.

What’s next?

I’m glad you asked! Currently, I have been minimizing the amount of clients I take throughout the week because I’m in nursing school (pursuing my first dream pre-pandemic). However, my books will be back open February 2022, booking is limited. I also am introducing a clothing line for women that will be launched summer 2022. Along with that, I will be dropping my lash collection March 2022.

I’m definitely excited for what is coming for Taylor Your Face in 2022.
