Check Out Doni Raye’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Doni Raye.

Hi Doni, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off doing makeup on myself as a way to escape from my problems and it developed into a passion. I loved painting my face and I used it as a time to pursue a relationship with God as I sat and learned how to do my makeup. I love to say that I’m a God-taught artist because communing with him made the process better. I started doing makeup on others after people started to inquire about who did my face. So, I kind of became a freelance artist by accident,

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but my most recent struggle is being full-time business owner. I’m responsible for it all, doing the makeup, marketing, scheduling, building websites, and back office duties. It can become stressful at times, but the most rewarding part is making someone look as beautiful as they feel. I love what I do, so everything else is worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a makeup artist in the West Midtown Atlanta. I specialize in makeup For women who love a golden glow, realistic skin, stunning eyes, & a poppin’ pout for any and every occasion. Which can mean everyday glam, events, and even bridal. I am most known for my Signature golden glam which use warm browns and golden hues to create a sun-kissed glam perfect for any skin tone or type. What sets me apart from others is that my goal is to accentuate the beauty that is already there and to never over exaggerate them. I’m most proud of the fact that my clients feel a true transformation EVERYTIME they leave my chair because the glam experience is tailored to them. Which means I pay attention to what my client’s wants and needs are when it comes to their skin and their glam. Also, I am a creative at heart so I am also known for fantasy makeup. I can draw about anything on your face/body and transform with body paints and eyeshadows.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t be so hard on yourself, growth comes with practice and being an active participant in your life’s journey whether it leads you to be a neurosurgeon or a makeup artist. Enjoy the journey and never stop learning. You’re becoming the person you’ve always dreamed of and people are being healed and transformed from watching your life. The greatest joy is being in a position to help someone else on their journey. You can’t help if you don’t have your own to reference. So, be okay with learning and growing. Also, never put yourself in a box. You can do it ALL.
