Check Out Tamura Wells’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamura Wells.

Hi Tamura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I need a couch to tell my story, lol. Seriously, my name is Tamura Smith-Wells and I am one half of Visionary Impressions. I’m an original Georgia Peach, Grady Baby 1980 and East Point Bred. I graduated from Tri-Cities High, Class of 1999 and in 2001, that’s where my creative journey began.

I was employed at Wolf Camera in Peachtree Center Mall in downtown Atlanta. For nine years, I was exposed to some of the greatest photographers in Atlanta. I want to take the time to thank the following for exposing me to the art of photography; Craig Sims, Michael Newman (Shane Michael), Anthony Dowdell, Jarek James, Ronald Garrett, Matthew Jeffres, Kevin Stewart and many others.

From the value lessons provided by such great people, I began photographing events such as baby showers, birthday parties, anniversaries, etc. In addition to events, I started creating logos, business cards, flyers, etc.

When Wolf Camera closed stores in Atlanta, I became a Customer Service Representative with the federal government in 2010. With my previous creative experience, my mentor, Ms. Francine L Walker and former manager/current business partner Thea Leggett-Page assigned me to create banners, newsletters and custom gifts for departments as a collateral duty.

In 2020, I had the idea to create custom apparel and had a valuable opportunity to have Kevin Atkinson of Stakkmoney Brand Apparel as a mentor. With his assistance, Visionary Impressions’s Designs have been featured in Elephant Nation Magazine, etc.

Visionary Impressions is striving for success and creating designs with you in mind 💜.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One of the major challenges have been my health. I had to learn to manage my time that was best for me to complete deadlines. My obstacles have always been myself and I’m striving to improve with each day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been a federal employee for 13 years and will continue to feed my academic and creative side. I’m most proud of my work ethic and my passion to assist others in life. What sets me apart from others is my mindset. I believe that the obstacle we have in life is ourselves. Once the determination and perseverance is set in motion, goals can be achieved.

What makes you happy?
I’m happy that I have peace within myself and I’ve been blessed to have amazing parents and people in my life. Being able to assist others also makes me happy. To be genuine and see the smiles when I create for clients is the reason I continue on my journey.
