Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Holland.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kayla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Creativity and the arts have always flowed through my veins since I was a child. But how I stumbled into photography was truly due to being impatient. Back in 2013 I became engaged to the love of my life and just like any other bride, I could not wait to get our engagement photos taken. The photographer we had chosen couldn’t get us in for another 3 weeks, but I wanted pictures then and there. My mother has always toyed with taking pictures for our scrapbooks and has a decent camera…… this is where it all begun. The next day we headed out to my parents backyard. I had my mother take pictures of my husband and I, as I posed us and ran back and forth after each shot to make sure she had captured my vision perfectly. Once done, I literally downloaded a couple of basic editing apps to my phone and begun turning my visions into reality. So many people loved the images and began to ask who took our photos and how could they set up an appointment. I started off slow and then before I knew it I was learning Photoshop, Lightroom and stalking the next best camera and lenses online. I researched on how to build my craft, to bring joy to more people and to make more people smile. Moments only last a second, memories can last a lifetime, but only photographs can last forever. I want each and every client that steps in front of my lens to feel, look and be their absolute best.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Everyone’s struggle are different and mine was over producing photographs for clients. That is not necessarily a bad issue, but I had to learn how to figure out how to run a successful business that was profitable and not just giving my talents out for nearly nothing.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Holland Photography – what should we know?
Holland Photography prides its self on making everyone feel beautiful and have that beautifulness transferred to a real, live tangible good for the client. I have always thought about how I would want to be treated and I think that has helped play a major role in setting me apart for other photographers. Recently I have expanded my business into weddings, senior portraits and newborns. Doing so, has helped me grow my business into something I could never had imagined.

A major credit goes to my husband, Trell. He has stood beside me and helped me along the way. With the recent addition of our son, Carter, to our family, he has really stepped up with giving me motivation and the alone time to do what I have needed to be done for my business and craft. Another person who has really help me develop as an artist is another fellow photographer, Heather LaShun. She took me under her wing at times to help me build my business and answer a thousand and one photography questions I had when I first started out!
