Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrell Cooper.

Hi Terrell, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was a Checker/Loader at Mclane in Athens, GA for seven years. After being fired, I knew I didn’t want to go through that again, so I took my 401k then I purchased a straight truck and started a trucking company.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been smooth at all, Financially, I wasn’t prepared for everything and the equipment I purchased wasn’t as reliable as the owner portrayed it to be. I spent most of my money and time repairing the equipment and paying insurance. On top of that, I had no clue about the rules and regulations and what to expect when it came to D.O.T.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor is truly organic, my advice is to be as genuine as possible when you’re approaching someone who can change your life. Just know this person has probably been finessed by someone they were trying to help. In other words, be consistent in what you truly want.
