Daily Inspiration: Meet Toni Dominique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Dominique.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It’s a dream of so many young children to be on tv be it in a movie, commercial or just simply a topic in the news… but my thing is getting to know people and their stories. You could call it a noisy streak but everyone has a story to tell and it far deeper than the surface they show us everyday. I was strolling through Social media and I ran into a post by a local comedian who wanted to start a radio show and was looking for a female co-host. It must have been fate because at that same time, I was trying to figure how I could get a show started where people would actually take me seriously and interview with me. I reached out and we instantly connected and created The LITT Netwrk. The show focuses on the underground scene of people really working and hustling for their dreams. I still had my noisy streak so I also started The Toni Dominique Show to tell more stories. We have so many famous people that we forget about that fall to the background or do a shift in their career that we miss them and I plan to get to know and tell the stories of as many of them as I can.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been easy. I have learned when you are working with someone, you may have similar goals but it’s not always the same. I’ve had to deal with bad communication when it comes to planning and production of a show or simply maintaining your image that you are trying to create alongside someone who isn’t. I’ve had to deal with people not taking you seriously just because you are a woman in the industry, that can be anything from just trying to get men to interview and they just want to talk person stuff and not business or from you reaching out to people to interview and their partners or wives think it’s more and they have a set of drama. It definitely had its ups and downs but if you get to the story, it all makes it worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a media personality and what sets me apart is the approach of it being more than just an interview with me. It’s a real desire to get to know the person beyond the job they do and beyond what is already written about them. It’s understanding that people are always learning and changing and I way to see them in all those changes. I just love what I do and I hope I continue to get more chances to do it.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I feel this industry will always be here. Someone has to always report the news and the drama on it. It’s entertaining for many and there will never be a space where people don’t want to be entertained. It’s also a space where people can get information out on a large scale and everyone loves an opportunity to set the record straight and get their truth out. I’m not sure how it will be shared but I’m ready to see it all unfold.
