Hidden Gems: Meet Shakeia Brodie of Arise Renewed Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakeia Brodie, MA, LPC, NCC.

Hi Shakeia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I am a Psychotherapist and owner of Arise Renewed Counseling, LLC. I specialize in anxiety, addiction, self-esteem/self-confidence, relationships, and sexual issues. After graduating from undergrad, I made the decision to go into the Industrial Organizational Psychology field. I got accepted to a Master’s program, started the program, then realized I was in the wrong field. After leaving the program life happened. I had two sons and was ready to find my career. I got accepted to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program and began my journey. Upon graduating with my Master’s degree, I obtained employment at my internship site, Right Side Up before moving towards my dream of opening my own private practice. In 2021 I started my journey towards my private practice by taking a leap of faith. I quit my job and went into private practice full-time on November 1, 2021.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been smooth at times and bumpy at others. It is hard not knowing what your income will be each month knowing that you are a single mother of two growing boys. I’ve had to learn and accept my strengths and weaknesses as a business owner, which I learn something new everyday.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Arise Renewed Counseling, LLC?

I am most proud about the therapeutic relationships we build with our clients. What sets us apart is that we are a Black Woman owned business. I work with individuals however I do have an amazing clinician, Tanya Avery, who works with couples and families. As of now it may only be us two clinicians however in the near future, I hope to grow into a group practice offering more services throughout Georgia and soon after, North Carolina.

What makes you happy?
My boys, Zachariah and Zaivier. I know every parent says it, but they are truly something special. They are my Why!
