Entrepreneur, author, and creative visionary Dr. Nicole Brown is entering a new chapter with the evolution of her brand from Queen.Billie.Hazel into Living Beautifully, a platform centered on intentional living, authenticity, and personal transformation. Through the release of her debut novel Living Beautifully: The Diary of Blair Montgomery, she is extending her mission of empowering women to embrace reinvention, pursue purpose, and redefine success on their own terms. As the brand continues to grow through storytelling, community, and creative experiences, Dr. Brown hopes to inspire women everywhere to build lives rooted in alignment, fulfillment, and the beauty of becoming who they are meant to be.
Dr. Brown, since your previous interview, you’ve expanded from Queen.Billie.Hazel into the broader Living Beautifully brand while also publishing your debut novel, Living Beautifully: The Diary of Blair Montgomery. What inspired this evolution, and how does it reflect your own personal journey?
Queen.Billie.Hazel began as a way to honor the women who shaped me, my grandmothers, Billie and Hazel, and my belief that our homes should tell the stories of who we are. Over time, I realized that what I was truly creating extended far beyond beautiful spaces. I was exploring what it means to build a beautiful life.
The transition into Living Beautifully reflects my own journey as a woman, educator, mother, entrepreneur, and now author. There have been seasons of reinvention, seasons of grief, seasons of growth, and seasons of extraordinary joy. Through it all, I’ve learned that beauty is not perfection, it’s intentionality. Living Beautifully became the umbrella under which all of those passions could coexist. It represents the idea that we can curate lives filled with purpose, creativity, service, and authenticity.
Your novel explores themes of identity, love, legacy, and authenticity. What inspired the character of Blair Montgomery, and what message do you hope readers take away from her story?
Blair Montgomery was inspired by the many women who appear to have it all together while quietly navigating questions about identity, belonging, ambition, and love. I wanted to create a character who was sophisticated and accomplished, yet deeply human.
At her core, Blair is learning that external success means very little if you are disconnected from yourself. Through her story, I hope readers are reminded that they don’t have to shrink, perform, or abandon parts of themselves to be worthy of love and fulfillment. Authenticity is not always easy, but it is freeing.
If readers take away one thing, I hope it is this: you are allowed to evolve. The life you envision for yourself can change, and you can choose yourself again and again along the way.
You’ve built a brand centered around intentional living and personal reinvention. What does “living beautifully” mean to you, and how has that definition changed over the years?
Years ago, I might have defined living beautifully by achievements, aesthetics, or reaching the next milestone. Today, I define it very differently.
Living beautifully means creating a life that aligns with your values. It means being present with my children, cultivating meaningful relationships, serving my community, pursuing creative work that lights me up, and extending grace to myself in the process.
I’ve learned that beautiful living isn’t found in grand gestures alone. Sometimes it’s found in the quiet moments, a family dinner, fresh flowers on the table, a handwritten journal entry, or choosing rest without guilt. Beauty has become less about appearances and more about intention.
As someone balancing leadership roles, motherhood, entrepreneurship, and creative pursuits, what lessons have you learned about creating a life that feels aligned and purposeful?
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that balance isn’t about giving equal attention to everything all at once. It’s about recognizing what matters most in each season of life and allowing yourself permission to prioritize accordingly.
I’ve also learned that purpose doesn’t always unfold in a straight line. Some of my most meaningful opportunities have emerged from unexpected detours. Whether in education, philanthropy, business, or writing, I’ve discovered that the common thread is service. When my work allows me to encourage, teach, or inspire others, I know I’m operating in alignment with my purpose.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that women don’t have to choose just one version of themselves. We can be leaders and nurturers, ambitious and compassionate, polished and authentic. There is room for all of it.
Looking ahead, what are your hopes for the future of the Living Beautifully brand, and how do you hope it continues to impact and inspire women?
My hope is that Living Beautifully becomes both a community and a movement, one that reminds women they are worthy of creating lives that reflect who they truly are.
Through books, storytelling, speaking engagements, curated experiences, and intentional content, I want to encourage women to embrace reinvention without shame. I want them to know that it is never too late to pursue a dream, pivot careers, deepen relationships, prioritize wellness, or redefine success on their own terms.
Ultimately, I hope Living Beautifully inspires women to stop waiting for “someday.” Beauty isn’t reserved for the destination. It can be found in the life we are building right now.
