Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrita Tanner-Cloud.
Hi Carrita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a freelancer working part-time alongside a corporate healthcare job I held at both Ochsner Health System and University Medical Center.
I was then fired from my job while I was seven months pregnant and begin full-time as an entrepreneur in my business.
After five years of successfully showing up everyday in my business, I’ve been able to achieve high 6-figures in my business, my net worth is more than seven figures and I’ve been able to employ over seven people within my agency.
I’ve been featured in Forbes, Inc 5000 and many other national publications.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, lol.
I’ve lost friendships, many clients and tons of money. In this journey, I’ve been misunderstood, neglected relationships due to overworking and I’ve had a lot of clients because I didn’t know how to communicate early on and avoided difficult conversations.
It was definitely a learning lesson.
We’ve been impressed with Creativity Justified, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I want the world to know that Creativity Justified, my advertising agency, and Carrita Cloud & Associates, my growth consulting firm, are here to make our clients’ lives a bit easier. We want Creativity Justified to be known as the #1 woman-owned, black-owned advertising agency in the United States. We create impactful branding that helps our clients resonate and relate to their audiences. Our consulting firm is the next black-owned EY. We will help businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs scale their brands nationally by incorporating systematic operations, branding and marketing into their businesses.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’d like to shoutout two people if I can. First, my husband, Denero Cloud. He supported me in the greatest ways and times when I completely wanted to doubt myself and give up, his support kept me going.
Secondly, my clients. Specifically, Dr. Lana Joseph-Ford (Jrumz & High-Level Speech and Hearing Center, Melissa Odum (Queendom Aesthetics) and Tiffany Carter (Klutch Cosmetics). These three black women believed in me and were the first to hire me as their brand managers even when I didn’t have all my things together. They were patient with me and continued to encourage me as my company continues to grow. I will forever be grateful for the risks they took on me so every chance I get, I will let the world know who they are.
