Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnathan Whidbee.
Hi Johnathan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Elizabeth City, NC. The oldest of three raised by a single mom. My journey to become an attorney started long before law school. I wanted a career that was challenging and I noticed that in my hometown there were not a lot of attorneys. Therefore, I took this as a challenge.
I attended North Carolina Central School of law where I received my J.D and Boston University School of Law where I received my LL.M(Masters in Tax Law).
During my childhood until college, no one discusses how to start a business and how to run a business correctly. It wasn’t until after college that I grasp the information/ blueprint for how to start and run a business correctly. My career path has as a tax attorney forced me to learn and have an expert understanding. It’s important that we make this knowledge obtainable at a young age for our community and it’s more important that everyone has access, especially our younger generation. Therefore, I created The Tax Professor Business Course as part of my contribution to the development of the community. A course with a purpose to elevate and empower. The new course aims to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the needed resources to succeed in their ventures. I have shared my knowledge in IRS federal tax and business formation by teaching the foundations for starting a business.
Tax Attorney Johnathan Whidbee, an experienced lawyer who specializes in IRS federal tax controversy Jonathan has a law degree from North Carolina Central School of Law and a Master’s in Tax Law from Boston University School of Law, with extensive business knowledge.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life can be challenging no matter your career path or your goal in life. We have to learn how to move past our obstacles/challenges and learn from them. Every obstacle in my life has been a learning point and has contributed to my growth as a person.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been practicing in Atlanta, GA for several years, specializing in tax controversy and tax litigation. Outside of prattling law, I wanted to contribute to the community to share my knowledge and created the “Atlanta Tax Professor” as that tool.
The project is particularly unique as I have made it easily accessible for all categories of participants, including small business owners and individuals who desire to start a business but are struggling to find the starting point. The online course is relatively affordable and comprehensive, with content on every aspect of business formation and operation.
The aspects of starting and running a successful business as covered in the one-month course include forms of business structure, the foundation of starting a business, tax and accounting, and advertisement and marketing. The subjects covered in the course are delivered in easy-to-understand terms to ensure that everyone has a full grasp of the content.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about our city, is it’s not hard to find and converse with like-minded individuals that you can learn from.
