Hidden Gems: Meet Latasha Martin of Steelos Jewelry Exhibit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latasha Martin.

Hi Latasha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, first and foremost I always had a passion for jewelry. In 2015 me and my mom first started selling jewelry at the Barnyard in my city on the weekends those were my days off. Of course the first few years of opening my business I kept a job. The key to making money is to invest your money so I always knew I had to do what it took to keep my business flowing and to still maintain. The year of 2016, I created a website to try to expand my clientele not knowing I would be getting sales in different states, so that really made me ecstatic & motivated. I very soon became very passionate about my craft & started creating my own handmade custom designs. Creating bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc by request from my customers. They have a thing for the one-of-a-kind jewelry, that’s my therapy also so it’s something I’ll never give up. As the years passed I attended business meetings, joined the Chamber in my city and created pathways for other women to jump-start their businesses. The year 2020, I decided to take things up a notch by adding to my team, opening a storefront in an indoor mall, and expanding my jewelry collection. I’ve had my website for seven years now and looking to open a bigger store. I am very grateful for my supporters. My clientele has truly expanded over the years but mostly it’s the returning customers for me. I’m all about keeping my team & customers happy, that’s the goal. I just want to do what I love and enjoy, the success will come.

Jewelry makes people look and feel good.. I just want to do what I love and enjoy it,  the success surely will come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being in business is never a smooth road yet I’m up to a challenge. There are definitely years that are better than some and that’s the motivation to keep pushing. My mom getting breast was one of my challenging years but giving up has never been an option, just a much-needed break. The years CERTAINLY gets better😊

We’ve been impressed with Steelos Jewelry Exhibit, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I sell jewelry of all kinds. I specialize in handmade custom designs. I also sell solid gold & silver necklaces, bracelets and rings. I started selling Pandora pieces a year ago along with a few other fashion brand designs. I try to get and make jewelry others haven’t seen or had before. My brand is named after my Artist stage name Mrz Steelo. I became more passionate about jewelry than my music.
