Hidden Gems: Meet Kiara Rolle of Kaptured By Kiara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiara Rolle.

Hi Kiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kiara and I’m a fashion and portrait photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been doing photography for about four years, almost five, but decided to make it a business in 2021. I work with modeling agencies to help models build their portfolios, capture milestones and portraits for clients, and help entrepreneurs grow their business by capturing themselves and their products in the best light all through content branding.

I love being able to capture those special moments for people to look back on and help entrepreneurs scale their businesses and bring their vision to life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road. I’ve had moments where I wanted to quit because I felt as if I either wasn’t good enough, trouble building clientele, burnout, etc. The typical things creatives go through.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So like I said earlier, I’m a portrait and fashion photographer and I got into photography by needing some pictures of myself since I was making YouTube videos. So after saving up, I bought my first DSLR camera and started to take self-portraits with that. I would make my own backdrops and come up with different concepts when taking them, instead of doing the typical selfie. I fell in love with the whole process of what I was doing and after a while, I wanted to take pictures of other people. I asked my friends to come over or we’d meet up for a photo shoot. I would also take pictures of my family members for birthdays, graduations, etc. I just wanted to learn more about photography and how to work a camera and learn about camera settings… the basic fundamentals and practice. Now, almost five years later, I’m pursuing it as a career and have started my own business, Kaptured by Kiara, LLC.

Any big plans?
My future plans are to keep growing and getting better at photography. I always want to push myself to try different things and get more creative with portraits. I want to continue to grow my business, learn more about the business side of photography and help others as well. It can be pretty lonely as a photographer and it’s a competitive community, so to just build a helpful and growing community for others is definitely in my plans and what I look forward to.

Ever since I started making YouTube videos, I’ve wanted to make friends with people in that community and it’s the same now that I’m also a photographer. To just be around people who do what I do, understand the struggles, triumphs, help each other learn and grow… and to be able to relate to one another.
